Welcome Home--Wilch's!

Two of my good friends from my young married couples bible study just bought a house! A bunch of us helped them move into their new place a couple weekends ago and Sara asked me to take some photos of them for a new address announcement. The announcement design is still in the works but here is a slide show of some of their photos. Congratulations Sara and Adam on the new HOME!

BANQ--Downtown Kingsport

A good friend of mine, Luke Brogden, sent me some info today about a new exciting space that is opening up in downtown Kingsport. He asked that I spread the word to brides in the Tri-Cities area who are still in the planning stages. Luke works for a new downtown development team called "Urban Synergy." The new space will be known as BANQ, a luxurious 295-capacity banquet hall located on the second floor of the First National Bank Building on the corner of Center and Broad St.

Many of us, including myself, have been forced to look in surrounding cities for venues to host rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, parties, reunions and even corporate events but now there is a classy Downtown space to celebrate in. BANQ has floor to ceiling arched windows, acid-stained concrete floors, exposed brick walls, and ornate Corinthian style columns. There is a coat check room, a warming kitchen and an AV room with a projector and screen. There will also be a 1-bedroom loft available for bridal parties/wedding night, etc.

Final construction is still underway but they are booking the space now for April/May and beyond! Luke has told me that they will offer almost a 25% lower rate than the other spaces in the area. Feel free to spread the word to anyone you know who might need, in Luke's words, "a stellar place to meet or celebrate." I will do my best to keep you informed as more comes my way.

Happy planning!

NEW!--Slice of Life Sessions

Slice of Life Sessions
I am often asked by clients:"When is the best age to photograph my baby?" My response: "RIGHT NOW before they grow anymore!"

It is very easy to put things off when you're a new mommy. However, you do not want to regret not capturing those little features when your baby is a newborn or as they amazingly grow through the first stages of their life right before your eyes. You might be so tired and overwhelmed with this new addition to your life that it's hard to think about scheduling these portraits. My advice – schedule them ahead of time, so you will have these memories to cherish forever.

If I had to pick the best ages to photograph your baby, they would be:

*Newborn
These should be taken in the first week of life or at least within the first two weeks. We focus on the innocent nature of the baby during this session. We make sure we get detailed shots of all of the little baby pieces & parts, lots of bare skin images, sweet photos of mom and dad (and siblings) with the baby, and some sleeping images around the house –We can be as creative with these as you wish!

*3-months
This is when your baby is starting to look around and smile, giggle, and maybe roll over for the first time. They are showing much more personality and they gaze into the camera for some amazing shots.

*6-9 months
We schedule this session once the baby is sitting up well. This allows us to be more creative with our portraits. We can usually get their attention fairly easily and they are so cute trying to do things on their own.

*1-year
They are walking, talking, and exploring like never before! We like to capture all your child's favorite things to do during this session. You could even have a birthday cake for them to eat at the end of our session for some more memories of your child turning 1 year old.

Locations
- are always your choice. I love photographing in the home. This makes each session more personal and unique.

Props – we have some props of our own but we love photographing items in the nursery, favorite toys, keepsakes, or gifts. Monograms are great on clothing and props! Be sure to pull those out during our sessions.

With each “Slice of Life session” I will also include photo collages that will look amazing hung side by side in the child’s room or anywhere else in your home.

Another package in the works is our Belly to Baby sessions – Expecting photos are also a once in a lifetime opportunity to capture! More info to come.

Please email me at kristen@overbayphotography.net for more information and pricing. You can expect a nice discount for booking these multiple sessions! Dates can be flexible. So shoot me an email. Trust me, you will be glad you did.

Old Family Photos

After my grandfather passed away in October, I have found myself clinging to memories. I shared a few images of me and my grandfather from when I was younger on a previous post. I have since discovered these photos going through the many photo albums my grandmother has kept over the years. These images are special to my dad and his brothers from the time they were growing up. There are also a few precious photos I found that my grandparents shared of one another during their young married years.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

For those blog readers who don’t know, I lived in New York City while I was on summer project with Campus Crusade for Christ during 2005 and 2006. I miss the city so much! Here is an image I found from the well-known New Year’s Eve party that goes on every year in Time Square. I just thought this was fitting for this post. Can’t wait to watch the ball drop into 2009… It is going to be a great year!
